Malaria thinking

Two weeks to go! I got no malaria pills for Indonesia.

I've been against whole eating the tablets to prevent Malaria and been thinking I'll be ok just covering myself and using heaps of spray everywhere..hmph. last nite was doing some travel planning (oh yeah..me planning:D) and read an article about a traveller who had just died of malaria in Ghana and I guess something clicked in my head(yes that happens too)..in the end it is cheap insurance to take those wacky pills even they can make you bit cuckoo in the head, sometimes even bit more than a bit. So I guess I'm gonna dare to test one of Antti's cuckoo malaria pills (Lariam) on saturday and if Im ok with taking them I will also get a prescription myself.Been bit cautios about the pills since I often very easily get all the side effect of everything. But since I also know I am not the most careful when it comes to all the precautions and prevention measures and it is gonna be the beginning of the rain season in Indonesia the pills might be good idea. Plus neither I or any of my family need to go through the situation of me dying of malaria in some backtrack jungle in Asia.

Otherwise the plans did not go so far..been thinking of a bit revised route of doing Bali and Lombok first before Java since it is Idul Fitri, the end of ramadan when we arrive to Indonesia and it says very strongly everywhere that do not attempt to travel around Jakarta at that time because 3million people will be on the roads going to their families and then returning to Jakarta...ah..I think massive Asian traffic jams is not what we need in the beginning of our holiday even it might be very interesting to witness all the celebrations.I can see us sitting in a bus full of Indonesians who are annoyed because they have not eaten properly for a month, stuck somewhere on the road and moving 5km in an hour while it is humid and boiling +35 outside.eh.. So I am thinking of escape flight from Jakarta to Bali straight when we get there since Bali is mostly hindu area so it might make things bit easier.
